Trip to Shumen and Great Preslav

Last Saturday 5 families from the families small group visited Shumen and Veliki (Great) Preslav. In Shumen we took part in the Pentecostal church service. The pastor let us share some testimonies and encourage the people which was nice. It's always great being there, the people are hospitable and friendly, and the prayer time and the sermon are also very strong. They prayed for the beginning of the school year and even gave presents to the first graders!

Then we went on a picnic to the Kyoshkovete park. It was drizzling but this didn't spoil the atmosphere. Then we visited the excavation at the old capital Great Preslav. It was great to see the Golden Church, the kings' palace, the basillica, the bath, the barracks, the city walls and many other parts of the old town. One of the guys from our group, Dido, is a Bulgarian history fan so he also shared a lot about it. We thought of visiting all the old Bulgarian capitals some day. This might be hard, though, as we will have to start from Balkh in Afghanistan!
