Today Vanya, me and a few students were invited in a meeting with the Student Councils of the universities in Varna. There were about 7 people - chairman or representatives of the respective councils of the Sea University, the Free Varna University, and the Technical University (we've met already with representatives of the Economics and Medical Universities). We had to present the TopSpot Project and we did it, asking the students to consider running it on campus. Yet, the most influential leader said they have already decided ... to say NO beforehand. Obviously, they had made up their minds but wanted just to hear and get a 'confirmation'...
Yet, it was great for them to hear a rather different point of view to the issue of violence among students. And, for our students to see the 'powers and authorities' with which they need to fight. It is a very spiritual battle, indeed. All these people claim they are Christian but deep down are so much afraid of their 'bosses'. They are afraid that they will have to say bye bye to their desire to lord it over and to take attractive positions if they 'blow it' and let a 'religious organisation' work on campus! Fear has an excuse and will always find one. This time it was the regulations of the universities banning religious propaganda, as they call it. One of them said discussions like these are propaganda. It is interesting to know how can a university be university without letting all ideas free access to students? It is rather an ideological prison than an academic institution.
